Patient Advocacy Training

The Coalition of Cancer Cooperative Groups’ self-study training program was developed for cancer patient advocates nationwide. The goals of this training program is to provide education, training, and ongoing professional support that will enable advocates to:

  • More effectively inform and influence the cancer clinical trial research process
  • Stay current with the ever-changing issues and aspects of cancer clinical research
  • Ultimately help increase patient accrual to cancer clinical trials

A Useful Starting Point

Cancer Research: A Guide to Cancer Clinical Trials was created by fellow Cooperative Group patient advocates and by an additional planning team of experienced educators and advocates representing several kinds of cancers. Cancer Research: A Guide to Cancer Clinical Trials has been broken out into 6 different modules:

  • Cooperative Groups
  • Cancer Clinical Trials
  • Drug Development
  • Surgical and Radiation Therapies
  • Protecting Research Participants
  • Tissue and Its Use
