Unified to Conquer Cancer
Cancer patient advocates are an important part of the team in the fight against cancer. Patient Advocates work in many different ways - some are dedicated to specific types of cancer, while some concentrate on making policy or procedure changes by working with legislators, insurance companies, and physicians; some advocates work to make the medical and scientific information understandable to cancer patients and their families.
According to some conservative estimates, there are over 250 cancer-related Patient Advocacy organizations in operation on a national or regional level. These groups have thousands of members and advocates working to make a difference in the lives of millions.
Many advocates. One goal.
The Coalition is associated with hundreds of individual advocates
and advocacy
organizations. Some have a national presence with high-profile activities and chapters across the country; others consist of one office with grassroots efforts. Some focus on one type of cancer, others have a broader constituency. Whatever their focus, they share a common goal: fighting this dreaded disease called cancer.
The Coalition supports its patient advocate members through interactive training and education programs. The Coalition also provides patient education materials at no cost to member organizations.
