Philadelphia, PA
[March 3, 2011] –ITA
Partners, Inc. (ITA) and the
Coalition of Cancer Cooperative Groups (Coalition) today announced that
they have reached an agreement in which ITA has acquired ownership of
TrialCheck® – the leading cancer clinical trial search engine – from
the Coalition. The TrialCheck database will be merged into ITA’s oncology
decision-support platform – eviti® – which currently contains nearly
1,000 treatment guidelines for 120+ types of cancer; and TrialCheck will remain
available to the public via the Coalition website
www.CancerTrialsHelp.org through a licensing arrangement.
“In our quest to be the most
comprehensive oncology decision-support resource, accessible by every
oncologist, to treat every cancer patient; we are constantly evolving eviti.
This acquisition and integration of the clinical trials database is the ideal
next step in providing a holistic approach to oncology treatment options,” said
Eduardo Beruff, chief executive officer and president of ITA.
As new health care laws will
soon require payers to reimburse for clinical trials, the need arises to
determine a trial’s appropriateness for each patient. The integration of the
TrialCheck database into eviti, not only meets the need, but benefits all
parties involved:
-
Patients receive assurance that
their physician will identify and suggest appropriate clinical trials as part
of their full range of treatment options;
-
Physicians have access to the
latest nationally-recognized evidence-based treatment options, including
clinical trials that may be beneficial for the patient;
-
Payers are assured that the
options presented through eviti, including clinical trials, fit the patient’s
diagnosis, and that they are reimbursing for appropriate care.
The Coalition and ITA share a
common philosophy that physicians, patients and payers should consider clinical
trials as a viable treatment option; and integrating the TrialCheck database
into eviti brings clinical trial options to the forefront, giving physicians
even more treatment options at the point of prescribing.
“Strategically, we knew all
along that in order to make clinical trials part of the treatment paradigm, a
tool as precise as TrialCheck would be most effective when integrated into the
normal workflow of the medical practice – where the key interactions among
patients, physicians and payers take place.” said Robert L. Comis, MD,
president and chairman of the Coalition. “The match with eviti is a perfect
fit. While ITA has identified trial searching and protocol navigation as
essential components of its product offering, it has not yet developed such a
tool. The match repositions TrialCheck to become an integral component of a
larger evidence-based prescribing approach.”
About eviti
eviti is a unique platform
that, in real time, aligns physician and payer priorities at the point of care
to ensure the most appropriate, evidence-based oncology treatment is
administered from the start. ITA’s independent, non-proprietary digital
oncology treatment library is one of the most comprehensive of its kind. It
comprises nearly 1,000 of the most appropriate, proven treatment options
covering all modalities for 120+ cancer types compiled from the world’s leading
sources. eviti’s treatment knowledge base and decision-support engine help
oncologists select a treatment option that is both evidence-based and compliant
with each patient’s insurance plan language at the moment of prescribing. This
transparent approach streamlines workflow and reimbursement, reduces
variability in clinical care, and results in cost efficiencies to benefit all
participants in cancer treatment. For more information, visit
